J10 HEADLAMP WASHERS NOT WORKING

Engines: 2.0 16V, 2.0 JTD 8V, 2.3 JTD 16V, 2.8 JTD 8V

The headlamp washer does not work when the stalk switch is operated with the dipped/full beam headlamps on.

Check fuse condition See E3022 HEADLAMP WASHERMove on to StepFuse/s blownReplace fuse/s and find out what could have caused them to blow
1HEADLAMP WASHER ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check the following, in order:
  • Connections between battery and engine bay junction unit
  • Connections between engine bay junction unit and underfacia junction unit
  • Connections between battery, ignition switch and underfacia junction unit
  • Connections between stalk unit and switch control unit
  • Connections between switch control unit and headlamp washer motor;
  • Stalk unit earth
  • Headlamp washer motor earth
  • Connections between underfacia junction unit and switch control unit
Move on to Step1. Component defective1. Replace defective component (in the case of a fuse, find out what caused it to blow).
2. Connections interrupted2. Repair the connections See E3022 HEADLAMP WASHER
2STEERING COLUMN SWITCH UNIT CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
  • Correct stalk unit power supply/earths
  • Check that an operational output voltage to the switch control unit is present when the stalk switch is operated
Move on to Step1. Power supplies/earths incorrect1. Restore correct power supplies/earths See E3022 HEADLAMP WASHER
2. Stalk unit not working properly2. Replace the steering column switch unit Op. 5550A12 COMPLETE STALK UNIT - R+R FOR VERSIONS WITH AIR BAG
3SWITCH CONTROL UNIT CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check the following, in order: See E3022 HEADLAMP WASHER
  • Correct switch control unit power supply/earths
  • Check that an earth output is produced to control the headlamp washer relay when a signal is activated from stalk unit to switch control unit.
Move on to Step1. Power supplies/earths incorrect1. Restore correct power supplies/earths See E3022 HEADLAMP WASHER
2. Switch control unit fault2. Replace switch control unit Op. 5505A24 W/L AND SERVICE SWITCH MOUNT - R+R
4CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check that the fault is no longer present
